Slot Dozing Technique

  • Slot dozing, which consists of dozing repeatedly in the same tracks, will increase production. The deeper the slot, the greater the increase in production. Obviously this will disrupt the surface of the pile; however it does provide maximum production. Edition 44 29-3 Production Factors Stockpile Coal Handling Estimating Hourly Production Slot.
  • Start dozing from the front of the dozing zone. As seen from the picture, if working on level ground, dozing should start at the front. This reduces the distance that material must be pushed. The dozers blade is also always full by using a downward grade.

As shown in figure 11-27, the windrows serveas barriers to prevent spillage around the dozer bladeends. Under favorable conditions, slot dozing canincrease production up to 50 percent.11-14

According to the Caterpillar Performance Handbook edition 36, section 1, page 42, slot dozing has a 1.20 correction factor when calculating dozer production, whereas a poor operator has a.60 correction factor. I just went over the jist of it, there are different conditions that will effect your outcome.
